Senior Site Inspection Engineer (Civils)


Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Site Inspection Engineer (Civils) to join our growing civil engineering team based in Dublin City Centre. The successful candidate will take a leading role in ensuring civil works on-site are carried out in accordance with civil designs. This will include all site infrastructure such as roads, paths/ cycle lanes, foul and storm drainage, and water infrastructure.

Upcoming Projects

Our upcoming projects include all site development and infrastructure work (roads, traffic & transport, drainage, water, utilities, bridges, etc.) from feasibility through planning, detailed design and construction for projects including:

  • Large-scale residential projects for the Land Development Agency (LDA) and their Development Partners

  • Private residential projects (high-rise and low-rise) nationwide

  • Refurbishment of historic structures for the OPW and public/ private sector Clients

  • New-build commercial office and hotel projects

  • Commercial office and hotel refurbishment and fit-out projects

  • Industrial and data centre projects


Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out inspections (in line with BCAR) of civil works on site to ensure works are being carried out in line with civil designs and all relevant standards/ regulations.

  • Prepare and issue prompt reports to Contractors, identifying issues requiring attention, ensuring they are closed out correctly.

  • Review and respond to civil submittals and RFI’s from Contractor.

  • Liaise with Contractor to troubleshoot issues arising on site.

  • Liaise with statutory bodies such as Local Authority and Uisce Eireann regarding works on site, witnessing of testing, etc.

  • Review civil designs internally pre-tender to advise on construction and buildability considerations.

  • Engage with and advise directors, colleagues and clients on infrastructure, drainage, water and SuDS requirements for developments;

  • Procure surveys such as CCTV, GPR, Site Investigations, etc. on behalf of the Client where required;

  • Assist with Taking in Charge process for developments on behalf of Client where required;

  • Assist in the preparation of As Built drawings on behalf of Client where required;

  • Supervise and mentor graduate and junior engineers when required;

  • Collaborate with civil and structural teams on integrated multidisciplinary projects.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Honours Degree (Level 8+) in Civil or Transportation Engineering.

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng MIEI) or close to achieving chartership.

  • Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience, with at least 5 years in Ireland.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Building Control (Amendment) Regulations (BCAR) and BCAR process during construction.

  • Strong knowledge of relevant Irish standards, including Uisce Eireann Publications, Greater Dublin Regional Code of Practice for Drainage Works and Local Authority guidelines.

  • Strong working knowledge of construction of civil infrastructure on-site.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD (Civil 3D desirable) software (or similar).

  • Full driving licence (a company vehicle will be provided for this role (subject to relevant BIK)).
