Senior Civil Engineer (Traffic & Roads)


This is a senior position with scope for progression to Company Associate for the right Candidate.


Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer (Traffic & Roads) with 10+ years’ experience to join our growing civil engineering team based in Dublin City Centre. The successful candidate will lead the design and delivery of traffic engineering, road design, and mobility planning assignments across public and private sector projects. This is a strategic hire, with a view to supporting team leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and shaping our growing transport capability.

Upcoming Projects

Our upcoming projects include all site development and infrastructure work (roads, traffic & transport, drainage, water, utilities, bridges, etc.) from feasibility through planning, detailed design and construction for projects including:

  • Large-scale residential projects for the Land Development Agency (LDA) and their Development Partners

  • Private residential projects (high-rise and low-rise) nationwide

  • Refurbishment of historic structures for the OPW and public/ private sector Clients

  • New-build commercial office and hotel projects

  • Commercial office and hotel refurbishment and fit-out projects

  • Industrial and data centre projects


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of roads and junctions, roundabouts, car parks, basement car park access, active travel infrastructure and mobility schemes from feasibility to construction.

  • Prepare and review Traffic and Transport Impact Assessments (TTA/TIA), Mobility Management Plans (MMPs), Travel Plans, etc. for planning applications and masterplans.

  • Engage with and advise directors, colleagues and clients on parking ratios, bicycle, electric vehicle, shared vehicle requirements for developments;

  • Manage client liaison, design team meetings, stakeholder engagement, and liaise with Local Authorities, TII, etc. on behalf of clients.

  • Oversee transport and junction modelling using industry tools (e.g. Picady, Arcady, Oscady and Transyt software, or similar)

  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant Irish standards, including TII Publications, DMURS, and NTA guidelines.

  • Prepare tender documentation, technical reports, and responses to planning conditions to secure compliance.

  • Supervise and mentor graduate and junior engineers.

  • Collaborate with civil and structural teams on integrated multidisciplinary projects.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Honours Degree (Level 8+) in Civil or Transportation Engineering.

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng MIEI) or close to achieving chartership.

  • Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience, with at least 5 years in an Irish consultancy.

  • Strong working knowledge of local road and traffic design standards (TII, DMURS, NTA).

  • Experience with leading the design of roads and junctions through detailed design, tender and construction stages.

  • Proven ability to lead small to medium-sized design teams and deliver high-quality outputs on time and on budget.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD (Civil 3D desirable) and traffic modelling packages such as Picady, Arcady, Oscady and Transyt software (or similar).

  • Full driving licence
