Civil Engineer (Drainage)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Civil Engineer (Drainage) with 5+ years’ experience to join our growing civil engineering team based in Dublin City Centre. The successful candidate will lead the design and delivery of civil site infrastructure and drainage design assignments across public and private sector projects.


The ideal applicant for this role will be eager to develop their skills and progress to a Senior within the organisation.

Upcoming Projects

Our upcoming projects include all site development and infrastructure work (roads, traffic & transport, drainage, water, utilities, bridges, etc.) from feasibility through planning, detailed design and construction for projects including:

  • Large-scale residential projects for the Land Development Agency (LDA) and their Development Partners

  • Private residential projects (high-rise and low-rise) nationwide

  • Refurbishment of historic structures for the OPW and public/ private sector Clients

  • New-build commercial office and hotel projects

  • Commercial office and hotel refurbishment and fit-out projects

  • Industrial and data centre projects

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver civil site infrastructure and drainage design from feasibility through planning and detailed design stages, with support from senior engineers where required.

  • Prepare engineering deliverables including Engineering Services Reports, Flood Risk Assessments, drainage designs and calculations, and SuDS strategies for planning applications and masterplans.

  • Support project teams and senior engineers by providing technical input on infrastructure, drainage, water and SuDS requirements for developments.

  • Liaise with design team members, statutory authorities and utility providers (including Local Authorities and Uisce Éireann) as part of project delivery.

  • Undertake drainage modelling using industry-standard software such as InfoDrainage (or similar), and assist in the coordination of model outputs with project requirements.

  • Ensure designs are developed in accordance with relevant Irish standards, including Uisce Éireann publications, the Greater Dublin Regional Code of Practice for Drainage Works, and Local Authority guidelines.

  • Assist in the preparation of tender documentation, technical reports, and responses to planning conditions.

  • Work collaboratively with civil and structural teams on multidisciplinary projects, contributing to coordinated and efficient design solutions.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Honours Degree (Level 8+) in Civil Engineering.

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng MIEI) or ambition to achieve chartership in the near future.

  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience, with at least 2 years in an Irish consultancy.

  • Strong knowledge of site infrastructure, water and drainage solutions from planning through construction.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, road design software (Civil 3D desirable) and drainage modelling software (InfoDrainage or similar).

  • Full driving licence
